The Awesome Responsibility of a Ghostwriter: Especially a Christian Ghostwriter

You have a story–a personal testimony, a family legacy, a church history–that you want told to the world. For the glory of God. As a record for your family or future members. And it needs to be done right.

That’s a heavy responsibility.

I’m asking people to trust me with their story. To make it presentable; something they would be proud to share with their family, friends, or community. And with the help of the Holy Spirit, that’s what I want to do for your story.

Why You Should Tell Your Story

I recently spoke with a gentleman who thought it would be great to chronicle the life of his father who helped and inspired many, but his father, being a humble man and not wanting to bring glory to himself, would not allow it. This man was disappointed, as he truly wished to honor his father’s legacy.

I understand the father’s resistance to tell HIS story. Over the years as a Christian writer I have found self-promotion a difficult hurdle. As followers of Christ our life should be about promoting Him, not us.

Which is why your story SHOULD be told. If you are a believer with a miraculous or dynamic testimony, it’s not just your story–it’s His.

If you have children and grandchildren, then it’s not just your story–it’s the beginning of theirs. It’s your legacy to them, their inheritance from you.

As a pastor or church or ministry that has reached multitudes or handfuls, your story is important to all of us. It is part of the greater story. It inspires faith. “Faith comes by hearing.” All of us need to hear the word of your testimony.

In the last story I completed, “Mission Acapulco”, Jay de Vries encountered a pastor who gave him a book about a man of God, Captain Brenton, who brought Bibles to western Mexico many decades before him. Though the book is no longer in print (I did find a couple online), Jay’s story became another chapter in God’s story for this area of the world.

So, your story is not just your story. To you it may seem like just fading grass in a field, but it’s another chapter in the continuing saga of God’s glory. Let’s tell it.
